Art: Ho Chi Minh Sidewalk

From what I could remember, my Chinese Vietnamese friend Long who I met on a website was touring me around HCMC (or Saigon as it was known in the past) and helping me look for souvenirs. I believe it was the first time I was intentionally looking for some artwork to purchase as a travel memento. Just as we were walking along the street, we came across an old vendor who was peddling these paintings. Naturally, my friend asked for the price and negotiated on my behalf, and since it was quite cheap he decided to just buy it for me. A real nice gesture I appreciate to this day.

I chose this piece because ladies wearing paddy field hats are simply iconic of Vietnam. I eventually found the perfect frame for it too.
